Beguas, finalist for Jose Rizal Model Student search |
 Mark Anthony D. Beguas, BSA 4 and Managing Editor of the UI Star publication was chosen as one of the finalists in the 2008 Search for Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines. The award was accepted last December 12, 2008 at the Order of the Knights of Rizal International Headquarters, Knights of Rizal Building, Bonifacio Drive, Port Area, Manila. |

The university had a victory party last November 2008 for PRISAA winners and participants at the MAX's Restaurant at SM City, Iloilo. The winners are: in Sports, Volleyball Boys -champion; Basketball Women -Champion; Sepak Takraw - Champion; Volleyball Men - 1st Runner Up; Volleyball Girls - 1st Runner Up; Volleyball Men - 1st Runner Up. In Athletics Boys, 1500M Run - 1st Place; 800M Run - 2nd Place; Badminton Boys - 3rd Place.In Literary-Musical Dance Contest, for Tertiary, Vocal Solo Pop - 1st Place; Vocal Solo Classical -2nd Place; Filipino Declamation - 2nd Place; Contemporay Dance - 2nd Place; Dance Sport - 2nd Place; Vocal duet - 3rd Place; Binalaybay - 3rd Place. In Basic Education, Vocal solo Pop - !st Place and filipino Oration - 2nd Place. |

Nursing student wins Miss Dinagyang |

 Stephanie J. Juanitas, a 3rd year student of the College of Nursing garnered a 1st Runner Up title for Miss Dinagyang among the eleven finalists of the Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City last January 16-25, 2009. She bested nine others in their vie for the Miss Dinagyang 2009 title.
Miss Dinagyang 2009 was held at Colegio de San Jose Auditorium last Saturday evening, January 17, 2009.
The pageant is one of the highlights of Dinagyang Festival, Miss Dinagyang 2009 candidates have the opportunity to be the carriers of social, cultural and educational advocacies that showcase Ilonggo’s beauty in diversity in a move to attract more tourists to the city. |
